FAQ

About funnel drop-off

What is funnel drop-off?

Drop-off is the share of people who reach one step but never reach the next. A checkout that goes from 900 starts to 480 purchases has a 46.7% drop-off on that step — 420 people who wanted to buy and did not.

What is the difference between step conversion and cumulative conversion?

Step conversion compares a step to the one immediately before it, so it isolates that single transition. Cumulative conversion compares every step back to the first one, so it shows how the losses compound. A funnel of five steps that each convert at 80% still ends at 41%.

Which step should I fix first?

Usually the step that loses the most people in absolute terms, which is what this calculator highlights — a 20% leak early in a big funnel costs more than a 60% leak at the very end. Fix that one first, then re-measure before touching anything else.

Does this calculator send my data anywhere?

No. The whole funnel is calculated in your browser with plain JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored.
